The first time I read Change of Seasons, I'd often stop and listen to the songs that are so vividly described in the book. I'd listen and smile to myself, reflecting on the backstories I just read. The songs sounded different. They had more depth, context and meaning. Then we started the Change of Seasons Book Club on Facebook and I started digging for other "artifacts" that went along with the stories and events in the book. Sometimes it's a news clipping, an old video, a photo, image or some other treasure. Lucky for us, author Chris Epting often chimes in, adding bonus details that didn't make it into book. Book Club members contribute their insights and reflections too.
And so our little Facebook group has truly become a virtual book club. Through the magic of the internet, members from all over the world are sharing their experience with Change of Seasons - the music, the stories, the history, the reactions, and the impact John Oates' inspirational story has made on readers. As a result, I've learned an incredible amount about American music and how the Hall and Oates songbook and the making of their music is a integral part of not only the music of my generation, but also the American music that came before and continues on today.
We welcome you to explore these Change of Seasons Book Club treasures. Click on each "Season" to check out our chapter discoveries. And check back now and then - there may be additions over time as the treasure-hunting and curating is ongoing!
