This Book Club Guide was created so readers can further explore the characters, events and history surrounding the stories so well told in Change of Seasons, a Memoir by John Oates with Chris Epting. Many of the artifacts, treasures and tidbits were originally shared in the Facebook group, John Oates Memoir Change of Seasons Book Club. But as the club grows and posts disappear down into the scroll of the timeline, we wanted to create a place where all the information, artifacts and insights could be catalogued and easily referenced.

"John has also always been acutely aware of how the timing of his life has paralleled the evolution of so much vital American music. And so that became another running theme throughout his narrative. John grew up with the music, the music grew up with him, and along the parallel coils he had the opportunity to learn at the feet of many masters. Those voices and spirits live in this book, which is as much a celebration of the American music experience as it is the memoir of one man. This is a history book, it’s a travel book, it’s a confessional, it’s a diary, it’s a fairy tale, and it’s a love letter. You may think you know John from the music, the videos, and even the mustache. And on a certain level, you do know him thanks to those things. But those façades belie a knowledge, passion, insight, and intimacy which all burn deep in this artist." from Change of Seasons: A Memoir - St. Martin's Press 2017.
